Passion Projects
My interest in health care and the community service that surrounds giving back to a medically unfortunate community has inspired me to take initiative within my own community. I started a multiple projects as a testament to this interest; one focused around health care and the other focused on service.
OCRA Seedling Kit Initative
Starting my freshman year, I developed a project at my high school within the Original Civic Research and Action (OCRA) program. My goal is to increase the amount of culturally appropriate food that gets distributed to local food pantries, including the one that a consistently volunteer at, the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force. In order to solve this, I and my OCRA partner, Colin, designed seedling kits, which consist of free pots, soil, and culturally appropriate seedling kits. People throughout the community decide to grow said seedling kits and then the vegetables produced would be given back to local food pantries. This project is extremely rewarding because it allows clients at said food pantries feel like they are receiving the produce they actually want; this project reduces the demoralization of going to a food pantry.

Health Curious Podcast
I started this Health Curious podcast project my sophomore year, when I became increasingly interested in the health care system. This podcast is a series of 8 episodes in which I interview a group of diverse people with different backgrounds to gather their ideas and thoughts pertaining to the current American health care system. Their stories and experiences were enlightening and their takeaways were enriching. After the podcast was publish beginning of my junior year it blew up. I gained 50 new followers and received over 600 episode streams. I am currently working on a season 2 where I interview doctors and gather their views on the health care system.
